Hints of Picasso was born here in Texas....

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Hints of Picasso  by Laurie Pace   I absolutely love this piece painted between 2007 and 2009. There is a freedom and freshness in this painting, even today discovering it in my archives. Vivid reds, yellows and blues predominately with cross over colors of green and orange.  I am still working out the sadness in life missing my Mom this week especially. Probably this is why I was called to share this particular painting.  When we cleared out her home and all the paintings in the household... it was amazing.  She had many from me from early ages through today...along with many from her circle of friends that were amazing artists. My youngest son has a favorite of Jesus. It hung in her front entry area and greeted you coming and going! I often wonder where many of my pieces are these days. I really started selling on ebay in about 2003 I believe.  I miss those days... I painted a painting every single day and put it

One of those Days and it's only 9:30 in the morning...

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 After the Afternoon Rains 9 x 12  Oils on Canvas A flash back from 2014 and a sweet small enticing painting 9 x 12 in size.  My color addiction really shows in this piece with my collected painted ponies!  Contemporary palette knife horses straight from my studio! One of Those Days  It was a delicious night of sleep... and I woke up late, but still dove into my Bible readings, which I do each morning. JOYFUL CELEBRATION greeted me... with remembering it is Holy Week.  The sermon yesterday at Countryside Church was breath taking at many levels. Factual to the time of Jesus and what he experienced as he was falsely arrested, people falsely testified against him, he was passed from court to court only to be sent back to the original court. The Jewish Court that wanted him dead.  Our Pastor was very moving as he walked us through the timeline.  In truth they remind you of what is happening today. As this Holy Week begins, I place my m

Rocky Mountain Sunrise Horses

©  Laurie  Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Rocky Mountain Sunrise -> Buy a 24 x 36 inch Giclee Print. Available through March 23, 2024 11 pm Central Time This painting brings back huge memories. It is a big one, thinking maybe 3 ft x 4 ft?  It was horizontal as I began building layers of browns thinking of doing a bear. I have really only painted one bear, but I had a photo to work from and thought... why not?  Well, two thirds of the way through I was not sold on continuing the bears.  I began pulling my palette knife up and down on the area with paint, and then I flipped the canvas to vertical.  I countered in the yellows and then re-pulled grays to cover edges.  I took my knife and began carving in the thick paint. I reverted to my passion of horses and made them larger and more detailed. I imagined them in my head standing on a cliff area slightly higher up in the mountains asa the sun fell to the east and the horses are gazing out to the west. Add

The Colors of Life

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2023 Face Within .  This painting led off in my woman series of warriors back in 2022. Returning to figurative painting for a small collection, this one is magical. Can you find the second face? Layers of color and overlays criss cross this entire painting mapping out two faces.  Can you find the second one?  30 x 40 inches lush bright colors. Piled and layered by brush and palette knife. I am known and collected for my intense color.  The Latest Quest Putting God first.  In the Bible it makes it seem very simple. From my understanding, we need to move our thinking process and all our thoughts to a divine level. Once we do that, we’ll see that God‘s actually got all the physical stuff taken care of. Had to think about that forward to really define what a divine level might mean. And Colossians, chapter 3 verse two, it says “Set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth.”  In Matthew, chapter 6 verse 30, it says “Seek firs

Crossing the Rio Grande

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2023 Crossing the Rio Grande 5 x 8 feet  Oils on Canvas. Commission This was one of three commissions completed for a law firm in Houston. We were living out at Lake Cypress Springs during that time and the canvas size was 5 x 8 ft for two of them and I did a panel triplet for the third one.  I have many of the process pictures on this, but am sharing mainly the raw beauty of the final painting and the area of the Rio Grande that has the same colors and wild feel. All was done in Palette Knife with a dance of color and texture creating the story.  If you want a personal commission painting for your home... contact me on my website.  I would need to know the size and the subject matter, your time table of need, a down payment and the dance with paint can begin.  Strength from Sorrow Now it came to pass after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke into Joshua, the son of nun, saying Moses my servant

John 13: 34-35  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. “ It has been a long February still sick with what I started in mid January.  I started on antibiotics Friday…hoping we can end this drain…thanks for your prayers, they are appreciated.  I am ever so grateful for the two paintings that sold.  One stays here in Texas and one heads to Illinois.  The Texas one is a first time collector but I feel like I know her because we met through mutual friends on Facebook. The Illinois collector has been with me at least ten years, picking up small pieces here and there.  This is why I will continue to paint for sma
